Possibilities of The Existence of Giants One possibility is that some ancient animals were much larger than their modern relatives, such as Gigantopithecus, an extinct ape that could reach 3.5 m (11 ft) in height and 300 kg (660 lb) in weight. Some fossil remains of these animals might have been mistaken for human bones by ancient people who did not know about them. Another possibility is that some ancient cultures had legends and myths about giants, such as the Titans in Greek mythology, who were said to be the first generation of gods and the ancestors of the Olympians. These stories might have been based on exaggerated accounts of real people who were exceptionally tall or strong, or on symbolic representations of natural forces or cosmic powers. (more…)
